My little moment of happiness

I just wanted to share this....

The BF finally finished painting our kitchen cabinets last night.  Ahhh, no more dreadful white cabinets.  They are now painted with a faux wood finish, so the effect is rustic wooden.  My Tuscan kitchen is finally coming along!  Now if we could just get the appliances installed, one wall knocked down, the floor replaced and countertops updated.

I think I will just relish in the cabinets for now.

That sounds AWESOME! Did he do them free hand or use some sort of technique? Isn't home improvement awesome. I still am hesistant to do a lot of permanent work to our house here in AZ (hoping I will move back to Chicago ANY day!), but even new furniture and accents are fun!

He did them free hand.  There is a technique to doing it, all cabinets have to match so it's imperative to have a pattern of painting.  It's a special glaze that creates streaks so it looks like brown wood.  I hope that makes sense, because I don't know how else to explain it.  I'll try to take a picture of one and post it.

Home improvement is fun, but when I think about how much we still have to do....well...let's just say that I want to move back to mom!  lol

AZ's not bad and in the meantime you guys can make inexpensive changes around the house.  Or get stuff that you can take with you to Chicago when you move.

Yeah, we've been concentrating on stuff that can move easily - furniture, etc. The biggest improvement we did was Pergo, but with 3 dogs and a cat we'd have had to get new carpet or something before we sold the house anyway.

I couldn't resist getting him in the picture. He's just so cute!

The floor is horrible!!!!  I want to throw up each time I see it!
