Foundation

ok. to me, foundation is the most important piece of makeup you could wear. skin is everything, and the objective is to make it look as natural and as flawless as possible, no? i currently wear MAC's hyper-real foundation. i like it the most from all the foundations i used (it gives you a nice dewy glow), but i feel like i could do better but am afraid to try. i feel like the more money you spend on make up, the better it is (a psychological thing for sure).

anybody use expensive sh*t? do you love it? tell me tell me tell me tell me...

I wear Hyper Real too and I really like it.  Well...I like it most of the time, there are days when it clumps up on my face, does that happen to you?

I've tried others and I wasn't that impressed with them.  I specifically hated Prescriptives...yeah I know hypo-allergenic claims.  It broke me out like a 14 year old, it was bad.  I tried Bare Escentuals Mineral Foundation, but that dried our my skin too much and was messy to apply.  Also, it would rub off on my clothes.

However, I have been tempted to try Vincent Longo foundation.   It also promises the dewiness look of the Hyper Real.

Liquid Canvas Dew Finish

Dew finish is an emollient, medium to full coverage liquid foundation that blends evenly and imparts a soft radiance to the skin, for a moist, glowing finish that lasts all day. Enriched with Ceramide III (moisturizes), vitamin E, ester C (potent antioxidants), aloe (soothing), and a protective SPF 15 sunscreen.

 or

Liquid Canvas Healthy Fluid Foundation SPF 8

The healthy glowing summer skin of Mediterranean women has remained the inspiration for this remarkable foundation's finish and formula. Cucumber, aloe, and wheat germ are combined to hydrate and soften the skin, and chamomile soothes, while vitamin E and an SPF 6 provide protection against free radicals and sun exposure. Natural oils and silicone are mixed to create a light as silk, yet incredibly cushiony texture that blends effortlessly and perfectly matches your complexion to achieve an unparalleled radiant matte look.

This high performance base is the ultimate be healthy, look good, liquid foundation.

I think that I might try the Liquid Canvas when I'm finished with my current bottle of Mac.

I haven't heard anything about Stila or Nars.  However, I have played with Nars and that foundation is really sheer and sort of drying.  It's oil free, and since my skin is dry anyway this didn't work for me.  I like the HyperReal because I feel like it adds moisture and elasticity to my face.

Chanel also has a nice liquid foundation, although it is REALLY sheer.  You probably need like 2 or more coats to get some sort of coverage.

The Vincent L is kinda pricey at $45.00, but I don't remember paying much less for MAC.

ok. vincent longo. so not dewy. not even dewy's neighbor. it's down the street and around the corner form dewy. i put some on and it was thick and drying. so i went to MAC and got hyper real, again.

Was there anything remarkable about VL?  It's pretty pricey, I expect it to do something awesome.

I have switched from Lancome foundation to Era airbrush foundation.  I read about it in a few mags and decided to try it.  I do not regret it.  It is very easy to use, makes your face look flawless and it's light!

I use Clarins Teint Fluide Hydratant.   It is the best foundation I've ever used and I've tried them all.  It never looks cakey and it doesn't make me break out.

Somebody else mentioned Stila.  I tried this one and it made me break out horribly.  I thought I would try it because all my eye and lip products are by them.  However, I found that I need to use Clarins stuff for any make-up that goes on my face.

AndreaJulia-how is the staying power of the Clarins?  Does it rub off easily?

i use NARS balanced in the barcelona shade.  there are two formulas, oil-free and balanced.  anna, maybe the balanced formula will not dry you out like the oil-free did.  i love mine, it gives me such a nice glow.  hth!

hmm I'm not sure about dewyness - whats dewy and whats not.  I always think I'm looking too shiny and stick powder on immediately (bad habit I know).  Anyways Clinique makes one that is dewyish but its not really great.

I have tried Stila - the one in the glass bottle with a squeese top (tried in the store) and I really liked it.  I didn't notice any dewyness.
