I don't understand why people are making a big deal out of this movie not being nominated for any of the major awards. I haven't seen it, so I can't really comment. Did anyone see this movie and agree/disagree with the nomination oversight?
I do. I thought it was great in that it portrayed Jesus as being real -- in so many movies, He is seen as such an untouchable, inhuman figure, and this movie showed clearly the split between divinity and humanism. I thought Jim Caviezel was excellent, too.
That being said, I am not surprised it wasn't nominated. I think you have to be Christian to really appreciate it, and the HFP is not all Christian. As for the controversy...I don't get it. Jesus would never have supported anti-Semitism, and I do not think it villified Jews at all.
