When I tell my friends with kids that, they always say stuff like, "just one? If you are going to have one, you should just have two so they have someone to play with!" As if having 2 babies is not completely different than having one. Jeez! He or she can play with the 8000 babies my friends plan on having. And he/she will have all the great toys because we (meaning my future husband and me) won't be overextended financially.
I think one is a good number because you can still enjoy yourself once in a while. The way I see it, you can even take a vacation alone with your husband once a year once the child is around 2. It would just be easier to find someone to watch one child. I have a friend who already has 3 kids. She loves it, but I find it kind of depressing. It is like she doesn't really have a life of her own. There's just too much going on for her to have time for it.

I agree. Besides, I don't remember "playing with" my sisters all that much growing up...we were too far apart in age. Now that I'm older, I do like having sisters, but if I was an only child, I'd probably have a similar relationship with my cousins instead.
My SIL is taking it upon herself to repopulate this corner of North America, so I am sure any kid(s) I have will have plenty of cousins.

2 is my only number! I have to have even numbers. Otherwise it won't work out with going to themeparks for family vacation. If you have 5 then someone will have to ride by themselves and I'm not having 4!

That's too funny! I'm the only child, so my dad had to ride with me.
