What do you guys think about this? I think she should be charged... there are much better ways to deal with cold feet - at least tell a friend or something if you can't face your fiance! But to fake a kidnapping? With all that's happend with Laci Peterson and the dude who killed his wife, I think this was in really bad taste.

DULUTH, Ga. - As a prosecutor on Tuesday weighed whether to press charges against Jennifer Wilbanks, the bride-to-be who faked her abduction, she was said to be working on a statement that could shed light on her actions.

Gwinnett County District Attorney Danny Porter said it could be weeks before he decides whether to charge Wilbanks for falsely claiming she had been kidnapped.
Wilbanks could face a misdemeanor charge of false report of a crime or a felony charge of false statements. The misdemeanor carries a penalty of up to a year in jail; five years in prison is the maximum sentence for the felony.
The city of Duluth, for its part, is "looking at its options" for recovering the cost of the manhunt for Wilbanks, Police Chief Randy Belcher said Monday night. He estimated the cost at "$40,000 to $60,000 of taxpayer money that we spent to search for her.”
I agree that she should be charged. There are so many bad things she did in that span of 3 days! I mean, you disappear, fall of the face of the earth. You don't think people will worry and possibly enlist the aid of authorities to find you?? Then she made up the story that she was kidnapped. What if some poor hispanic man was arrested because he was driving a blue van??
She should be charged for fake kidnapping and she should also pay back the money the state spend on locating her. If I lived in Georgia, I'd be knocking on her door asking for my money back!
The only reason I would change my mind if it comes out she has some mental issues. I can't believe that she bougth that ticket a week in advance!

I'm kinda up in the air over it. While she should be liable for something here I don't know if sending her to jail will help. She was placed in a mental institute last week which is where I think she belongs. It sounds like she is more mental than anything else. Most the time mental people don't even realize what they are doing when they do it.
Her rap sheet has also come out recently: 3 theft charges from shoplifting from a Gainsville FL mall (over 1K), a $37 shoplifting from Walmart, and another Walmart shoplifting charge where she did go to jail.
I'm surpirsed over her record. Not huge, but definetly points to some mental problems. Since she genuinly seems crazy, she should get help. Making her pay would be pointless.
